St. Rose is located in St. Charles Parish, one of the original 19 parishes created from the county of “Côte des Allemands” or German Coast. Located on the banks of the Mississippi, St. Rose is a small town of approximately 7,000. Along with St. John the Baptist Parish, St. Charles Parish became a vital resource for post-Katrina residents, providing volunteer and first response support, as well as asylum for refugees.
Shopping and Dining
St. Rose has a true entrepreneurial spirit that is evident in its family-owned local businesses. They reflect the state’s cultural pride and heritage, and include music businesses, event planning, crafts and interior design, building supplies and construction and family-owned restaurants along Airline Drive, St. Rose Avenue, James Drive, and Alamedia. There are several nearby shopping malls in the area: Dillard’s: The Esplanade, Lakeside Shopping Center, Esplanade Mall, and Clearview Mall. Local favorite restaurants include Jackson’s Soul Food, Buster’s Grill, Voodoo Grill, Sunny Day Café, and The Howling Pepper.
Parks and Recreation
With the many lakes, bayous, canals, as well as the great Mississippi, St. Rose is surrounded by parks and wildlife areas. Boating, fishing, bird watching, and other outdoor recreation are very popular. Bark at the Bridge Park is an annual event sponsored by St. Charles Humane Society and offers pet adoptions, vaccinations, and microchipping. Bogue Chitto State Park and Tickfaw State Park are within an hour’s drive. Salvador Wildlife Management Area supports a large alligator population and is a nesting ground for bald eagles. Manchac Wildlife Management Area is located in upper St. John the Baptist Parish, and local boaters frequent Lake Maurepas for weekend getaways and annual Lake Bashes on Memorial and Labor Day. Jean LaFitte Historical Park and Reserve has several park sites that offer educational activities and programs. The St. Rose Community Center is located in the Preston Hollow subdivision and has a number of programs and activities for people of all ages. Jefferson Memorial Gardens is another favorite destination. Of course, the French Quarter Jazz Fest, Voodoo Music Experience, and Satchmo Summer Fest bring visitors from around the world.

Living
St. Rose real estate is diverse, and homes for sale are located in several desirable communities and subdivisions. The Alamedia/Frellsen, Janet Drive/Dianne Place have homes for sale on nice lots with lots of greenery, and range in style and price. The Riverwood/Riverview areas have beautiful homes for sale that are plantation-style brick construction. Other nice areas include River Bend Estates and Rue Landry/Rue Syndey. St. Rose is serviced by St. Charles Parish Public Schools. Students attend St. Rose Elementary, Albert Cammon Middle, and Destrehan High School. St. Charles Parish Hospital, River Parishes Hospital, and the award-winning Ochsner Clinic support the area. The town is minutes from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, and is serviced by River Parishes Transit Authority. The major arterials are Interstate 310 and Routes 626, 48/River Rd.
